The flop in Texas Hold'em

The three first community cards that are dealt on the table are called The Flop in Texas Hold'em. You are going to use The Flop to put together a hand together with your hole cards. These cards are the basis for the betting round that follows (the betting round before the Flop is called The Pre-Flop). If you have poor hole cards as well as haven't "hit" any of the cards in The Flop you should fold at this time. The likelihood that the other players have better cards is large and the odds for you to get a strong hand in The Turn or The River are too small to motivate that you continue. An exception is if all players checked. Then it will not cost anything to continue. Another exception is if you intend to bluff, but that is not advisable if there are many players left in the round.

If you have good hole cards you should naturally stay on for The Flop. If you for example have an Ace and a King on hand and The Flop is a Queen, a Jack and a Ten you have managed to get the highest Flush and then it would be a pity if you fold before The Flop.
